A Study on Influencing Factors on the Ego Integrity of the Elderly

Abstract
This research is to analyze the influencing factors to ego-integrating realization and ego-integrating sense of elders and to find out the hierarchical relationship and to see how the relationship will affect. 350 Subjects for this research are collected from five welfare centers in J city in order to see relationship among ego-integrating sense, social alienation, subjective health condition, social support, depression, self-effectiveness sense. Throughout this study, influence factors on ego-integrating sense are analyzed hierarchically. The most significant factor was depression(B=-.375) and second and third biggest factors were social support(B=.295) and subjective health condition(B=.135). Based on this research, following suggestions are recommended. First, the relationship with others and the social affiliation need to be improved by expending programs for preventing and alleviating depression and by activating self-helping communities. Secondly, there needs to be both official and inofficial systematic development for resources for social supports of elders. Third, there needs to be promoting physical activity and increasing medical support in oder to improve physical health condition. Follow-up researches, such as studies based on individuality-considered vertical research and qualitative researches, are expected to help successful old age.
